Andrea Thurau, MSW, LSW, ACHP-SW

Biography

Andrea Thurau joined Hickman Lowder in February 2025 as the firm’s Care Coordinator. With extensive professional experience focused on older adults, Andrea brings a wealth of expertise in case management and hospice care. She is passionate about holistic care and providing support for individuals living with chronic illnesses or disabilities, which is evident through both her academic background and career dedication. Andrea is excited about the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients from diverse backgrounds. With a passion for understanding and adapting to varied needs, she looks forward to building strong, collaborative relationships and delivering tailored solutions that meet each client’s unique goals.

Before joining Hickman Lowder, Andrea spent nearly a decade at the Hospice of the Western Reserve, where she worked as a liaison and inpatient social worker. During this time, she conducted patient assessments to determine levels of care, managed needs assessments for in-home care, and provided families with information on hospice and palliative care programs.

Andrea earned her Master of Social Work and a Gerontology Certificate from the University of Pittsburgh and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work with a Gerontology Certificate from Wright State University. She is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) and an Advanced Certified Hospice & Palliative Social Worker (ACHP-SW).

Andrea lives in Independence and in her spare time she enjoys exploring hiking trails with her two young children, husband, and her Alaskan husky named Zylo.
